Brief Description
The Getty Foundation supports people and organizations dedicated to fostering a better understanding and preservation of the visual arts in Los Angeles and across the world in order to carry out the charitable goal of the Getty Trust.
It fosters the multidisciplinary profession of conservation, broadens access to the museum and archive collections, and cultivates present and future leaders in the visual arts via strategic funding projects. It collaborates with the other Getty Programs to carry out its job.

All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships Program by Getty Foundation, USA 2022-23

- Pre- and Postdoctoral fellowships are ineligible for current Getty employees and their immediate families.
- Candidates for the Getty Predoctoral Fellowship must have reached candidacy by the application deadline, and they should plan to finish their dissertations during the fellowship.
- Successful candidates for Predoctoral Fellowships who get their degree after the application deadline but before the fellowship begins, or who obtain their doctorate while residing, automatically transition into Postdoctoral Fellows.
- Candidates seeking postdoctoral fellowships who earned their degrees prior to September 1, 2019, should submit an application for a Getty Scholar Grant.
